CONTINUITY OF POWER SUPPLY CONTINGENCY PLANNING

At Delmar Technologies, we will work hand in hand with you, in order to mitigate possible risks to the continuity of your home or business operations. This can be as simple as a EPS (emergency power supply) output from your inverter supplying one critical circuit, maybe lighting, power to freezers or a home internet router. A more complex requirement could utilise a full gateway set-up, to take you completely off-grid (island mode). If this was the case, we would then instruct you how to carry out load-shedding (more about load shedding below.)

Contingency planning for electrical equipment offers several benefits:

  •  Minimizes Downtime: Reduces the risk of extended outages.
  •  Prevents Damage: Helps safeguard equipment from power fluctuations.
  • Ensures Safety: Enhances protection against electrical hazards.
  • Cost Savings: Reduces repair and replacement expenses.
  • Business Continuity: Maintains operations during disruptions.
  • Load Shedding – what’s that ??? – OK, basically a typical 5KW inverter will supply a 5KW load. With a gateway or change over switch, in the event of a power cut, all the circuits in the house are taken OFF the grid supply and onto the Inverter supply, remember our typical inverter is 5KW, so if we turn on our kettle that’s nearly 3 KW of power used ! Turn on the oven or shower and that could be 10 KW ! meaning, the inverter will go into overload and will probably shut-down in over-load fault mode. That’s why we have to be smart with what our inverter will and won’t supply in the event of a total grid power outage.

Off-Grid Solar

At Delmar Technonogies, one of our greatest passions is providing our clients with the ability to produce and store a significant proportion of their own energy requirements. This could be an off-grid system to heat a swimming pool or charge your EV.

Having an off-grid solar / wind system in the UK is truly beneficial. First and foremost, it provides energy independence. With an off-grid system, you’re not reliant on the national grid, which can be especially beneficial during power outages or in remote locations, or buildings, where connecting to the grid may be expensive.

Furthermore, off-grid solar / wind installations are considered a clean source of energy production.                                                                They can generate clean and renewable energy, reducing your carbon footprint and contributing to a greener future. In the UK, where environmental consciousness is high, this is a significant selling point. Additionally, off-grid systems come with various battery storage options, allowing you to store excess energy for night time use or cloudy days, ensure uninterrupted power supply.
